It is the aim of the ICT Department to develop all pupils’ skills in the use of ICT across the curriculum to the highest standard.
We have three fully equipped ICT Rooms which have been recently re-furbished to a very high specification incorporating multimedia equipment. Every Department within the school has computer access within the classroom.
Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 we offer the opportunity to all pupils to develop their skills in using a broad number of packages including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Publisher
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Access
- Super Logo
- BlackCat Spider
- Information Magic
- CoCo Control Systems
- Digital Blue
Skills are developed through both discrete tasks and project based work.
We also offer the chance for all Year 9 pupils to take part in an Animated Film Project, where all pupils plan, create film and edit their own animated short film.
All students also have the opportunity to take part in the CCEA Key Stage 3 ICT Accreditation Scheme which is a nationally recognised qualification in ICT.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 students have the opportunity to choose ICT as a GCSE Subject. Students follow the CCEA Full Course in ICT which incorporates 6 pieces of coursework (60%) and 2 external exams (40%).
Coursework Tasks include:
- Assignment A1 Design a multimedia presentation
- Assignment A2 Produce a booklet or report
- Assignment A3 Design a website
- Assignment B1 Using the internet
- Assignment B2 Database
- Assignment B3 Spreadsheet
