Welcome to the Brownlow Integrated College PE Department. In Brownlow we aim to empower our pupils to realize not only their academic potential but to enjoy and become the best they can be in sport. That however does not mean we concentrate all our efforts on the most capable athletes. We try to make learning through sport fun for everyone and try to develop everyone physically, socially and mentally through the medium of physical activity. Please take the time to browse through our site and be part of the sporting experience at Brownlow Integrated College.
The PE programme for Years 8-12 is organised in accordance with the requirements of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and it is one of the compulsory subjects within the Creative and Expressive Area of Study. Through such a programme pupils have the opportunity to:
- Develop body dexterity
- Extend, refine and become more proficient in a range of psycho motor skills
- Experience and appreciate the contribution of physical education to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle
At Key Stage 4 pupils become more responsible for their own activity programme as there is an options programme available. During these two years the Key Stage 4 pupils will study Health Related Physical Education and choose three elements from the remaining six – Athletics, Dance, Games 1, Games 2, Gymnastics, Outdoor Education and Swimming. If Games 1 and 2 are chosen, two different games must be studied.
